Can someone tell me a species of Cornus or Acer which would be happy growing in a container 48cms dia x 42cms deep, the location is in a courtyard sheltered on 3 side (open to the east) which gets about 7 hrs of sun a day (when we get it)

No Cornus would be happy in a pot that size for longer than a year - one of the smaller acer palmatum varieties would cope for longer, but wouldn't like hot midday sun in the summer.

How do I say thanks?
