I suspect I made a mistake by planing a Cupressus Macrocarpa too close to our house

Washington, United States

I suspect I made a mistake by planting a Cupressus Macrocarpa too close to our house (within a foot). Do you recommend that I transplant it? If so, when might be the best time of year? Thank you! PBD

Welcome, Paula!
Definitely transplant it, and the sooner the better, as long as the weather is still cool. How long has it been in the ground? If more than a few months, you might have to prune back the top some, to keep it from going into shock. It needs to be at least 10 feet away from wall or house foundations, and at least 6 feet away from paved walkways. Farther might be better, if you plan on it being there for more than 20 years.
