Help needed with a name please.
I got this plant for a hanging basket, & I know that it's euphemistically called a lotus plant. When in bloom it has orange claw like flowers.
Thanks.

Clianthus is the one known commonly as Lobster Claw - but the leaves on this aren't right for that to be the one.

There's two - one's a climber, one's a smaller plant altogether (Clianthus formosus, 2 foot, early flowering)

One of the many plants called Parrot's Beak. The botanical name might be Lotus maculata, or it might be L. berthelotii--they're hard to tell apart by the leaves. They're frost tender perennials from the Canary Islands. If the flowers are a reddish tangerine orange, it's probably L. berthelotii. If the flowers are a mixture of gold and navel orange peel color, it's probably L. maculatus 'Gold Flash'. We use both as temporary color in late spring, and in California they are common perennial color plant. It's going to need good drainage where "the rain, it raineth every day".

Plantmaiden, Heliconia is the latest name for Clianthus (just to make life even more difficult, they keep changing the names). Tugbrethil's right, and so were you, with your second choice.
