What have I done to the lawn? Help!
Unfortunately I cannot upload a photograph at the moment..camera out of action and hubby in Portugal with his!
I applied Weed and Feed on Sunday. As it hasn't rained, I watered well on Tuesday and again today...BUT there are large black patches everywhere! I've never seen that with previous applications. I've not got a good feeling about this!
Have I burnt the grass...or even worse..killed it?
Hubby is going to love me....NOT!
Any suggestions/advice will be gratefully received.

Yes, Bamboo...it did include a mosskiller...and hubby has just said on the phone that there was a lot of moss this year...more than ever before. He reckons it might be the moss dying back too.....but it does look awful! Should I rake out the moss and then see what it's like? We've had to re-seed small areas before BUT this seems excessive!
He is quite proud of his lawn...the only thing he does in the garden! LOL.

Have a look at the instructions on the pack, see how long you should leave it before raking the moss out - might be longer than 5 days, not sure.

Couldn't see any reference to that on the box, Bamboo. Hubby says he'll do it when he drives all the way back from Portugal on Saturday...flaming ash cloud has a lot to answer for...no flights and important business meetings to attend! I still think he was mad to drive 1300 miles!

I was going to say leave it to hubby, if possible - thankless task, and if his baby is the lawn, well he'll probably enjoy it, lol

Sounds like dead moss? I used this on my mossy lawn it went black in patches and after scaryfying 2 weeks after application it looks much better.

Drc 726... I do that by hand I presume?.....metal rake.... although last year I seem to remember my husband hiring a machine for the weekend. I think it is moss...it does look horrible with so many black patches everywhere! Thanks for that.

I do mine by hand with a metal one have bought a new one this year allowing for width can be adjustment found it much better. If you have a lot to do then its better to hire a machine.

You say you used weed and feed - without mosskiller? If it did include mosskiller, it might just be the moss dying back. Otherwise, you've either applied it unevenly, or watered it in unevenly. The grass may or may not recover; if not, you can reseed the damaged areas in six weeks time.
