If it is a big mature clump I would suppose you either fork lever it apart or chop it with a spade with a good edge. I have some mature clumps but have never tried to split them. I know they may be different if they seed . Says on the internet they are very tough plants. Most of my extras are seedlings. I'm hoping for a good one to pop up one day that is markedly different.
