Yes you can blanche it for a couple of minutes in boiling water,cool quickly in cold water,dry and bag up in 1lb quantities.This keeps in the colour and flavour.

Yes - I don't bother with the blanching though, I just wash it, dry it and then chop the sticks into short lengths, place in plastic bag and shove in the freezer.
