I have to agree with bamboo on this one ive tried this in a pot and it doesnt work. I plant it in a huge pot too and only the other day I had to take it out (after a year ) the roots were well compact.

Not really - it wants to get 30 feet by 20 feet wide. There's a smaller variety you could try, but they all prefer open ground really.
