Ive bought a clematis 'Hagley hybrid' which has no flowers yet. I was thinking of cutting it bck now to encourage it to grow bushier. Is it ok to do this now or just wait til earlier nxt spring?

Too late to prune now, and if you've only just bought it, doesn't need it anyway. This is a later flowering clematis (summer and autumn) so patience, Cookygirl - pruning should be carried out in the winter, preferably mid February, when you cut down the topgrowth back to 4 or 6 buds from the base.
