what are the little round balls sometimes found in compost

Answers

Slow release fertiliser. They come in yellow, orange and green depending on the type.

Hi Guest, if they are white and halfmoon shaped they could be vineweevil grubs. If they are yellow round balls they could be the remnants of last years slow release fertiliser.

Or vermiculite, added to lighten and aerate the compost.
