Rhodendrums
Hello lovely people - i have been very adventurous and bought a Rhodendrum - i have planted it in a big pot with the correct soil and it is in a sunny position - sooooo what do i do next - there are no instructions on the leaflet and i have always dreamed of having a Rhodendrum in my garden - any help would gratefully be Received!!!

Firstly, move the pot out of the full sun, mercedes. The Rhododendron prefers partial shade and, the sun will bake the soil in the pot. Keep the compost moist and thats about it. Enjoy your rhododendron

And, depending on which rhododendron it is you will, sooner or later, have to plant in the garden. Oh and you did plant in ericaceous compost?

Also feed occasionally with an acid forming plant food, since it's in a pot.

No shouldn't need watering every day just push your finger into the soil and if it feels damp to your finger tip it is fine. Another thought your pot does have holes in the bottom and it is raised up off the floor with something?

it has a hole but not raised i will see to it that it has - you have been so helpful thank you - been out this morning and he is still standing up which is a great sign!!!

Two main reasons for raising of the ground: drainage and keeping vine weevils at bay. Both are important in looking after your rhodo.

How do I say thanks?
