Sounds like its a bit chlorotic - a shot of Sequestrene iron tonic wouldn't do it any harm. As for the brown buds, if you've had a long dry spell, that might be the cause, or else the buds were caught by early morning sun before any frost on them had time to melt. That also would cause this problem.
