I have a golden acer in the garden. I have noticed an "alien" growth on one of the upper branches- it looks like atree or shrub has been grafted. I don't think it is a mistletoe. Any suggestions?

some plants are true chimera's where there is another form of the plant present. these when damaged grow and look different to the main plant. This may be the case here. but as bamboo says a photo would be good.

A photo would be helpful, Lerg. Otherwise, is the "alien" growth larger leaved (palmate leaves with 3 or 5 points though) and a different colour from the yellow acer, and which variety of Acer do you have?
