I have seen this growing on top of a ridge in the Pyrenees on little more than shale in the baking sun. In out garden it romps away in a humus rich soil in shade. Therefore, just about anything!
Lovely little plant.

We can plant them in anything but sticky clay here, though we use them for winter annuals.
