Can anyone tell me what this plant is? Before the flowers appeared I thought it was a foxglove but now obviously not!. Its spreading and seeding all over. Is it a weed? Hope you can help

is it borage or is it alkanet

forgot to add hellcat,if its borage the leaves can be eaten in a salad and taste like cucumber or infused and made into a drink

It's not borage, the flowers are larger, darker and more "clustery" and the buds are hairy.I'll go for alkanet too. Loves damp ditches, good for a "natural garden".
How's this for a match?

Thanks for the replies. Definitely alkanet, so will have to decide what to do about it!!! Looks quite pretty but spreading out of control. Watch this space

I have alkanet in a wild part of the garden. the bees like it. it is a member of the borage family too.

My guess, Hellcat: viper's bugloss (Echium vulgare), probably in more shade than it likes

definately not Borage , the leaves would be furry as well , if it was borage the flowers would be star like

Well, whatever it's called (can't be bothered to check, no time) the leaves on this are unpleasant to touch, very rough.
