my wisteria shrub was a nice sized specimen when i bought it and i think it must be around 7 or 8 years old now but the flowering has been very poor and i've been waiting for may to arrive to see how it will be this year but the leaves are going well and the flowering is poor again. there are a few more flowers this time but i've been waiting patiently for a beautiful show but nothing is happening. my husband wants to dig it up but i keep telling him to wait but even i myself is getting fed up of it. i bought 2 at the time, 1 pink and 1 blue but the pink one died for no apparent reason after about 3 years. i have a pagola and planted them either side but have no explanation as to why the pink one witherd and died. although the one i still have is poor flowering the trunk part of it is like a small tree. my husband says to get rid of it because when it sheds its leaves for winter it makes such a mess for nothing and that if it flowered we would'nt mind so much. he says i should put something that's sure to flower in its place.

Yours IS flowering, but obviously not to your satisfaction, lol. Can I ask what variety of Wisteria you have, or can you post a photo of the flowers. If its not W. sinensis, the flowers won't be quite as impressive anyway. Also, are you pruning it correctly?
