I have had a similar problem, and rather than attacking the neighbours cats with a water gun, I covered the area with netting and put down some cat repellent dust. Slices of orange or lemons seem to deter for a while but not so good when the smell fades. A friend had success with a plug in ultrasonic deterent if money is no option (and you dont have any pets yourself) - good luck! V
