apple graft problem. I have a cox`s pippin grafted on a smallish rootstock, planted around 6 years ago. Seemed ok last year, gave maybe 2 dozen apples.
It has growths around the graft area that look redish/pink, almost as if trying to put out roots. The graft is maybe 3 or 4 inches above soil.
If it is trying to root should I worry?
If it is fungal, is it fatal? If so is it carried in soil - can I replant, will it infect nearby trees (Bramley or Vic. plum).
Any other suggestions?

A photo would indeed be very useful - its hard to say what's happening without actually seeing it.
