what are the sticky leaves on my rhododendron should i remove them

Might be honey dew (bug poo!!) from aphids. Don't remove the leaves. The aphids might be on a plant that is overhanging your Rhodo, so have a look at surrounding plants. The problem will probably go away on its own, but if you find the aphids you could try spraying them with soapy water, which interferres with their feeding mechanism and they starve to death in a few days.
