My camelia was planted approx 6 weeks ago. It started off fine however has since grown new growth which appears to be yellowy and the leaves are curling. Some of the new leaves have gone brown and brittle on the ends. The existing established folliage seems fine. What do I need to do?

Have you been watering it? I have several Cams in containers and they do get curled leaves for no apparent reason and it doesn't seem to affect the plants, but as yo say they go brown and brittle, that suggests to me they are too dry. Any new shrubs should be watered regularly to begin with to get them established and it's been very dry recently. Also, make sure you've got the right soil for them - they need acid soil.

Thanks. I've been watering every night. Do I need to water morning and night then? I'll have a look at the soil type thanks.

I shouldn't think you need to water that often. When you water it should be a good soaking (rather than just wetting the surface) and if that's what you're doing you should only have to water it a couple of times a week (and not at all once established). I wonder if maybe the plant had been forced on in a warm glasshouse and not hardened off properly before being sold and planted out. We did have a few nights of light frost only a week or so ago and my Cams have not started to produce new leaves as yet.

How do I say thanks?
