If I want to use cheap wooden fruit boxes - slatted bottom, decent height sides - as throw away containers for growing plants in do I need to line them?
I have an old apple scale and thought fruit boxes would look good planted up on it.....

Actually realised I had to unless I wanted large part of the soil to disappear through bottom! They look good - will post a photo of the "kitchen corner" when plants have taken and grown a bit.....
