Agree with Bamboo, mine is flourishing with no extra fuss whatsoever. I do give the garden a general mulch of very well rotted horse manure about every three years.

Not particularly fussy about soil, but make sure you don't plant it somewhere windy - the branches have a tendency to snap and break in a windy position. Shouldn't need any special feeding if planted in reasonable soil, but you can incorporate some Growmore or Fish Blood and Bone at planting time.
