Hi, Panderson! I just saw your first question. Cistus can take some pruning, but my experience is that if you prune them heavily, most kinds have a hard time stump sprouting. I would prune lightly, and to side branches where possible. Pruning lower later, if the first pruning encourages basal growth, is a possibility.
