i started my pumkins inside under a grow light but once the leaves got 5 inches they would turn yellow and die i have now moved them outside and they are still having the same problem i remove the leaves that are bad but the new ones are still turning yellow.

That is usually a sign that they need to be in a bigger container, planted out (not until they finish hardening off), and/or need more nitrogen. I would check out the fertilizing schedule first.
