I'm planting shallots in a newly dug bed and would like to use the space in between for radishes. I know it's better to plant carrots with onions but my soil isn't fine enough for carrots. Will i be ok with radishes between shallots?

Try to use a 3 prong cultivator to get a finer tilth, works well if the soil is dry. Could rake as well if the gap is
not too narrow. Use soot to keep the carrot fly off
if you can find a sweep.
Keep carrot seed damp.

yes they will be fine. they will harvest long before the onions. you could also think of some of the cut and come again lettuces as a stop gap crop..
