my 12ft tall griselinia hedge has been badly damaged by the last harsh winter it looks completely dead although i can see a few new buds here and there, this hedge is 52ft long and i really cant afford to loose it

Not much you can do other than to feed it and keep it watered and keep your fingers crossed that all of it regrows, though it doesn't sound good from your description. You may find some of it grows and some doesn't.
