my friend has a mature 'Autumnalis' Prunus? and the leaves are dying on the bottom half of the tree, although the top part looks healthy, would it be worth cutting it well back all over to regenerate new growth? or would that kill it?

Sorry Bamboo, to be so late in thanking you for your answer on 'autumnalis prunus' tree..30th May ..1/ Ihave been on holiday 1/ still haven't got used to the way things work on G O Y ! so didn't realise you had answered. My friend is pleased that her tree seems to be recovering, new fresh leaves appearing, so panic over (I hope)
