Does the fragrance smell of spice? If so it could be the aptly named Korean Spice viburnum (Viburnum carlesii). It certainly looks like one.

I'll be interested in the answer to this as I have inherited this shrub. I think it may be one of the Viburnums, the flowers have a wonderful scent.
