Not too sure what you are asking in your question. Mimulus are for the most part moisture loving plants (including the ones sold as bedding plants) and like fertile soils that don't dry out.
They look good on their own with plain green foliage plants as companions (Hosta's being a good example) as their flowers are quite bright. Depending on the type, they can look great edging a pond in the boggy area too especially the completely hardy species M. guttatus and M. lutea.
The bedding types look good in baskets and containers.
There is one tender shrubby species too from Mexico but this is probably not what you are looking for.
