Hello Fractal, glad you're back. This is Beschorneria, but its not yuccoides - can't see the flowers close up, so not sure what variety. I only know this because I've just done a load of research on these plants, someone having posted a pic of B. yuccoides recently, and my not knowing what on earth it was, and then seeing Beschorneria septrentionalis at the Chelsea Flower Show, wrongly listed as B. tubiflora in their plant lists, though there does seem to be some confusion about this group of plants in terms of which is which - seen the tag B. yuccoides applied to 4 different ones so far by sellers!
Sorry Unslimjim - whichever variety it actually is, its most definitely Beschorneria. If I was asked to guess without a close up of the flowers, I'd go for B. tubiflora.

Hi Bamboo, yes I will be back a little more frequently. Never got any further than this species so bow to your extra info :-) Cheers.

I'd be interested in any further ones you come across and what the labels say - as it was shown at Chelsea, I'd imagine people will be asking for varieties of this now.

Thank you very much!!!
It certainly looks very much like this plant, identified as a Beschorneria yuccoides, http://www.cambridge2000.com/gallery/html/P4186126.html
From what I can see, the good news is that it will flower every year and not die off like I thought.
Thanks again

« i have a standard bottle brush in a large dot but the leaves have started to go brown...
Next question
It's not a Yucca, it's a Beschorneria probably the species B. yuccoides. A relative of Yucca of course but not in the same genus.
