I HAVE JUST ACQUIRED A GARDEN CONTAINING WHAT I THINK MUST BE THIS TREE BUT THE PETALS WERE DEEP VIBRANT PINK - ALMOST PURPLE. IS THIS A CERISIFERA NIGRA OR ANOTHER VARIETY? IT HAS PURPLE FRUITLETS AS I WRITE

What kind of leaves does it have, Tom? And is that a Prunus cerasifera 'Nigra' you think it might be? If it has purple leaves and deep pink flowers, it is more likely to be a flowering crabapple.
