re -growth of a hedge ?

i removed a 140 ft hedge with a 1 and a half ton digger by pulling out the roots, could some of the small pieces of roots that are not seen below the ground, grow back again

I'm in agreement with Moongrower. There shouldn't be a problem with the fibrous roots left behind.

You don't say what type of hedge it was. If it was a conifer then it wouldn't regrow even if you left the stumps in. For a deciduous hedge, there is a very small chance that some of the small roots may grow again, in which case dig them out then or treat with a weed killer. I wouldn't worry at this time.

Keep an eye out for perennial weeds that could re-sprout from fragments, such as bramble, nettle, bindweed, in case they had been in the hedge too.

Hi Glendermott and welcome to GoY. I'd have thought it highly unlikely that small pieces of root would regrow but, if they do, they should be easy enough to remove.
