looking for a quick growing shrub to fill a gap. aprox 6x6 feet.

you could look at weigelas, viburnums, spireas -- there are quite a lot but it depends on if you want deciduous/evergreen, early /late flowering and importantly where in the garden its to go in relation to sun/shade andis your soil acid or alkaline if you make decisions on this then you'll have more success with the shrub

See if you can find a Sambucus Black Lace. It's very strong growing, has wonderful flowers in June, and great foliage for the whole growing season. You can keep it cut to the size you want quite easily and make more from the cuttings.
