I want to put some plants in my border it is adjacent to a six foot wall.On digging I have found footings six inches down.What is my best option I would be very grateful for your advice.

you shouldnt plant, literally, next to the wall so pop the plants at least 12" from the wall, that way you will be clear of the footings and the plants will have space to grow into a balanced shape.

Hi Peter and welcome to GoY. Your best be would probably be to raise the bed by about six inches, which way does the border face?
