The flowers hang down a bit like prunus but can't find a yellow one :)

Looks a lot like Rosa banksiae lutea, which can flower now.

Thanks so much for the replies. It does indeed seem to be Rosa banksiae lutea, but I am puzzled! All the descriptions state it is a vigorous climber, but this was a shrub! About 4 ft high, and maybe 5ft wide. I am very ignorant about roses I'm afraid. Are climbing stems sent out later maybe? Its the first plant I've seen for a while that I 'must have'. I've never grown roses, as I worry about the thorns and grandchildren! But this is thornless.
