My son bought me a Kiwi vine for Mother's Day.
I planted it just as it should be and it appeared to be doing
well. I've just noticed that something has been nibbling
the leaves. Some round the edge and some like lace.
Any info please

It could be molluscs (snails, slugs, etc). These will cause the round edges as you described. The other things that could be eating the leaves include caterpillars and aphids which would cause the lace-like damage that you mentioned. However, if it was aphids causing the problem then these should be evident on the leaves.
You need to check on your vine every now and again and you will eventually find the culprits. Try going out and having a look during the night as a lot of these creatures are nocturnal.

Thankyou for your answer. I checked the vine today
it is still growing well.
No sign of what is attacking it though!.
I have noticed some red ants in my garden, could it
be that?

Ants are the most like the culprits if they are on the plant. Ants don't eat leaves as such as they can't digest them, but they nibble bits away and carry them off to build their nests. They are also attracted to the sticky secretion left by aphids which contains lots of sugar. To get rid of them, spray the leaves with a strong soap solution, use something like washing-up liquid.

Its unlikely to be anything to do with ants nearby - if they're crawling all over the plant, then you might have either a scale or aphid infestation, so check the stems and leaves, specially backs of leaves and new growth.

« A question about beetroot As usual, I've set some beetroot seeds 5 inches...
A photograph of the lace like leaves, and the nibbled round the edges ones, would be very useful...
