I have very strange leaves growing on my almond tree. They look like large red curled over leaves. There are about 6 of them on my 2 year old tree which is very healthy and has fruit on it this year. Can you tell me what these "mutant" leaves are? Many thanks, steve

Thank you very much for the advice. Have you any idea what may have caused the fungal infection? Is it just unlucky or anything we could have done to stop it?
Many thanks,

Since it is wind borne there is very little one can do to stop it. Sadly in the end we had to get rid of our almond blossom tree purely and simple because we could not stop this infection. Google 'Peach Leaf Curl' and see if any one has any better advice.

Thanks I've been onto Wikipedia and found loads about it. What a shame my wife will be really upset as it was an anniversary present and its lovely.
Many thanks for your help.

It sounds like Peach leaf curl. This is a fungal infection and is very difficult to control. Remove the affected leaves and burn them. If there is no fruit on the tree then soak it and the ground round it with a systemic fungicide. Otherwise you can only keep on removing the leaves and hope.
