My daughter has an Omphalodes Linearifolia which has been overtaken by the host burberris in the past. During one winter I rescued it by cutting the branches of the host, whose branches had lost their leaves, right back.
The Linearifolia flourished and is now about 4ft high.
Now that the flowers have faded the ends of the branches look spindly.
My questions are should it be pruned and if so how and what sort of fertilizer should one use?

Sorry, Innocent, but I think that there is some confusion with names here.
Omphalodes is a herbaceous plant that is related to Borage and does not have a 'host' plant. Actually, the nearest name I can find to the one you quote is Omphalodes linifolia and this is a small , annual plant. Can you take some photographs to illustrate your question? Someone may then be able to identify the plant.
