That's the one that gets my vote, Amelanchier - but if you live in a cold part of the country and the area is open to cold northerly or easterly winds, or your soil is alkaline and limey, it might not be such a good idea.

Sorbus are also a good choice. I personally like Rowans.

I have recently planted Amelanchier Robin Hill having looked at lots of possibilities for a similar location. Let's hope I got it right but so far it's looking good.
