HiI have bought sweet pears from garden centre - they are already potted with willow support - do I have to take out of pot and plant into the soil?

best to just plant the whole pot including the willow support and they will soon scramble up the support that you will have to put in , or was you intending to keep in the pot ?

If me I would plant in the borders with 3 bamboo canes tied in the top , be careful of slugs and snails this time of the year they love fresh new foliage straight from the garden center.
