Helianthemum or Rock Rose. Tends to grow as a ground cover sub shrub no bigger than 12"
Cistus (Sun Rose) is a shrub that can get to up to 4 foot tall and has lots of larger flowers.

It is a Cistus (Rock Rose). A small shrub native to the Mediterranean although a good garden plant in Britain.
