thank you as its only a young plant i plan to keep it in doors through winter will that be ok ,i have also looked at a photo and i believe its a lady palm.

If it is a Lady Palm. then you will definitely have to keep it indoors during the winter. It prefers a position out of full sun outside (in summer) and thesame for inside.

If you mean a Cordyline then I would choose a multi purpose with a little loam added (John Innes). Westland make one that should do fine. These types of compost are better for longer term plantings such as for the majority of shrubby plants (excluding Ericaceous plants).
