possible garden pest ?

when disturbing the soil we find worm type creatures milky coffee coloured, that when touched move faster than a worm but not as quick as a centipede. What are they and would they damage veg or flowers? If they do cause damage is there an easy eradication?
P.S. could be millipedes?????

Generally the faster moving a creature is, then the more likely it is a friend. After all they need to be quick to catch their prey.

See no reason to soak roots in marathon Wildlifeb. and surprised you are suggesting if you claim to like wildlife! Agree with Owdb. more likely friend than foe though a photo would help!

And not a millipede, they are fairly sedentary.

were they segmented? did they have legs? were they round or flat? how long/fat etc
This will help identify what the creature is. but a photo would be ideal to help identify it.

Malathion has been withdrawn from sale because of safety issues. I advise you from bitter experience not to go soaking roots in it although it was very effective - sorry Wildlifebalcony.
Also soaking roots won't kill pests that are living in the surrounding soil. And before doing anything about them find out if they are friend or foe.
