We have a variegated grass type plant a bit like a Yucca, it is about 3' across and 5' high and it has now sprouted 8'tall shoots or flower stems.
How can I find out what sort of plant it is

Hi, welcome to GoY, it souns to me as though it could be some variety of Phormium, ie, long narrow leaves up to 5 or 6 ft, long flower spike, as Bulbaholic says, a photo would get you a better id, Derek.

Well Ross, you could start by taking a photo of it and posting the picture on here. I am sure that someone will know.
