The first I did not mange to see them in the spring but I don't see any flower buds or dried flowers on the shrubs
The second has no aroma but the roots are tubers type but without aroma.
Hosta - yes those under shades and may flower soon .

Looks like a good sized, snail/slug-free hosta.

Is it possible the second one is Jerusalem artichoke, with edible tubers? If so it has sunflower-like yellow flowers late in the summer, being a member of that family. Latin name: Helianthus tuberosus.

Hi, I must be seeing different photo's to everyone else, all I see are 2 photo's of green leaves, which could be anything, and some sort of thickened root or tuber, which again could be anything, sorry, Derek.

The first one looks like a Forsythia. Yellow flowers in spring.
Second is hard to tell...it could be a Monarda....does it have aromatic leaves when rubbed ?
Third is a Hosta. It will die down to the ground in winter then come up in spring and usually get eaten by the snails. lovely spikes of lilac flowers. Likes moist, semi shade.
There is a plant growing through the Hosta called a Polygonatum or Solomen's seal
