Its only a baby and if its growing well that's great. They flower on the older wood so it has to make some before it can go into action. In Febuary cut back any side shoots to not more than six buds, and tip back the new growth a few inches. Feed with a dressing of sulphate of potash and this is giving it your best shot. It should have at least a few flowers next year. Do the same every year, aiming to keep a nice open shape and avoiding crossing branches.
My three year old (from a cutting) is only just beginning to fruit well and still has some way to go.The others are laden after the treatment I've described.

Not really, but there is a set of wild Gooseberries down the lane from us and they have never had fruit on them in the last 18 years. Odd as there is another set a few yards away which has always produce huge quantities of sweet fruits.
Pruning and feeding are usually the problems with Gooseberries.
