Can anyone tell me how to save a very distressed Dahlia. Its a new plant which I potted up and it was growing beautifully. Suddenly dropped its leaves and small buds. I re-potted it as the compost was soaking wet. When re-potting it I found that the pot had no drainage holes in it! Its looking really sad so I may have lost it. Any ideas please.

It has probably drowned if it is so wet, with no drainage..Does it still have any roots left,or have they rotted away? You could try it in a pot with drainage. They are thirsty and hungry plants, which prefer a sunny position..,but well drained fertile Compost.so water in dry weather, and feed occasionally with a liquid feed, also watch out for slugs..good luck..

Yes the roots are O.K. Have changed the pot and its in a sunny position. I'll try a liquid food. Thanks very much Bloomer for your response and helpful information.
