I'm growing a chilli plant indoors and every few days these little brown (rather than green, yellow, red or black) bugs keep appearing. There have been some small flies around, but they're mostly gone now trapped on a sticky pad, so i don't think they can be laid from them. I think they are aphids and was spraying them with something that said its suitable for organic gardening so I guess there's nothing chemical in there - of course it hasn't worked! Can someone please advise 1. what they are and 2. how to get rid of them? Thanks

Thanks for the response. I had been very meticulous in rubbing every one off under the tap but they just keep coming back. I think its time to go use a spray then. any advice on how often? Do I need to leave some time after spraying before I can eat any chillies? I had 3 flowers but they all fell off covered in bugs :-(

you can get sprays designed for crop plants and that tells you when you can eat the crop after spraying. usually from the flower to the fruit is at least 4-6 weeks.

They are green fly. If you want to be organic just gently rub them off with your fingers. soapy water will also do the job.
