Who is guest?

London, United Kingdom

my laburnum tree budded but then did nothing this year. It still seems to have some green wood, but looks like it is still in February mode? Is it dead/dying? Should I cut it back to see if it might shoot again - and if so when?

Maybe you should be glad Guest. Mine has dropped petals like snow all over the top lawn. Next down will be half a ton of racemes as they part company. It is the none poisonous kind. The Hawthorn is the same, barely a blossom last year. This year I need no more exercise than brushing spent Hawthorn flowers off the path to save being trodden into the house!!! Next it will be berries. I think trees do take a rest from being overburdened with blossom and seeds/fruit. They know what they can manage.
