It is true including mice , dont use too much just enough to roll them in not soaking.
Also you can use "gorse" roughly cut up and covering the beans then put the soil on the top they hate the spine's

I would say its to late to plant any of the beans for this year but you can plant Broad beans in the Autumn for a early crop next year

I certainly wouldn't 'soak'them. Wet them maybe, but that is all.
