Could you explain a little more please Ian - i.e. what shrubs?

Moon grower, thanks for your response. Sorry for the delay. (too much work this week) Yes many of my plants have brown spots, Fan palms, Japonicas, etc Although not the roses which are fine.
Unfortunately my neighbours have the same problem.
I'd appreciate any advice you could give, They are mature plants and I'd like to save them.

It could be a fungal infection, have you had a lot of rain? Hopefully someone wiser on shrubs will answer you.
